The Lion King New York Theatre reviews
Simply Amazing!
When I was 5 years old, my parents took to to the Schubert Theatre in Chicago, to see a production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. The theatre became, and has remained my 2nd home ever since. I’ve taken it all in…DEATH OF A SALESMAN, AMADEUS, CHORUS LINE, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, WICKED…All so memorable. Many of these and other notable productions I have seen multiple times…But I’ve never experienced anything like I did at the Pantages Theatre this week when I took in THE LION KING! The visual picture constructed for the audience through the dancing, staging and most impressive of all the costuming was beyond breathtaking! One literally loses sight of the fact that there are actually human beings manipulating (and I hate to use the word “puppets) but I don’t know how else to label what I saw…It
was remarkable. The music, talent and energy that permeated the theatre was exhilarating! The first bars of music sung acapella by Rafiki, which opened the show, brought cheers from the appreciative audience and set the tone of excellence which would follow throughout the night. If you are considering purchasing tickets for this show or if your were thinking of taking a pass…Don’t make the mistake of not taking the plunge and securing the best seats that you can afford. Hurry..The run is almost over!
Fantastic show, sketchy seating
The snow was terrific. Cannot recommend enough. Great for kids and adults alike.
But my issue was the seating. I bought 2 very expensive seats, fourth row, orchestra right, aisle seats. Little did I know, they took the term aisle seat extremely literally, because we arrived to find a stand alone chair actually in the aisle, next to that row. And handwritten, on the back of said chair, was my seat number. We asked the usher about this, and she said it was “handicap accessible,” in order to fit a wheelchair. I don’t this difficult, if not impossible, to believe.
Furthermore, the tickets were presented as “normal” seats on the Ticketmaster app when I bought them. If full transparency had been clearly provided, I would never have bought them.
I was frankly embarrassed to sit there, the other guests also found it odd, and we got several strange looks as people were seated.
And to be honest, I’d like a full refund for that seat, because it was falsely advertised.
